Project:1

Issue is how location, temperature, per capita income correlate with frequency or type of police cases.

  1. Identifying regions with similar patterns of police cases based on socio-economic and environmental factors.
  2. Examining the impact of these factors on cases over time, including seasonal crime trends influenced by temperature.

  3. Analyzing the correlation between age groups and crime rates to determine the most affected demographics.

  4. Investigating the relationship between per capita income, counties and crime rates.
  5. Identifying police stations or officers handling the highest number of cases.

My First Class Experience in Advanced Mathematical Statistics: A Journey from Passion to Practical Learning :

Since childhood, I have always been passionate about mathematics. The way numbers and patterns work together has fascinated me for as long as I can remember. However, as much as I loved math, I hadn’t had many opportunities to apply what I’d learned in real-life situations. That’s all about to change as I dive into my master’s in Data Science, specifically with the course on Advanced Mathematical Statistics.

This course is not just about theoretical knowledge; it’s a practical, hands-on learning experience that will be invaluable when making data-driven decisions. Upon satisfactory completion of this course.

I will able to learn :

  • Statistical Learning
  • Python or R  for statistical models

What truly stood out in my first class was a unique experience I had with you. Unlike any class I had taken before, You not only delivered the content but also gave us an opportunity to apply it practically. No other professor had done this in such a direct and engaging way, and it left me genuinely impressed.

The way you planned the semester was particularly inspiring. One of the key highlights was the project based on data provided by the Armed Conflict Location and Event Data (ACLED). We were tasked with transforming this raw data, and the approach was well-structured and methodical: objective → community → subject → tools → objective → rules → division of labor→outcome. This thoughtful planning not only made the project manageable but also gave me a clearer understanding of how to tackle complex data analysis tasks in the real world.

This first class has truly reinforced my excitement for the path ahead in data science. I can’t wait to dive deeper into statistical learning and apply it to solve real-world challenges. The future looks brighter, and I am ready to take on the next steps in this exciting journey!
